Only 15 players made it to the July game. But they were here to play. Everyone made it the 2nd break. Then they started dropping out quickly. 10 minutes later 5 players were eliminated and they were at the final table.
Then the rate of knock-outs slowed and they were 6-handed at the 3rd break.
Another 10 minutes and they were down to 4. Kathy took the 4th spot and the bonus points.
Barb was next to fall leaving Jim and Peter to battle for the win. Last year's champ and this year's front runner.
The battle was very even and lasted past the 4th break. Jim won the final hand and had Peter covered by 2 chips.
Jim extends his lead by nearly 200 points, with Dave, Ed and the rest of the field falling back.

20 people played in the live event tonight. I've heard reports that some people didn't receive the invite or the reminder for the game. I usually send an invite a week or two after the game and a reminder on the Sunday before the game. Let me know if you think you're not getting emails from me.
Of the 20 players, everyone made it to the first break and food.
Most made it to the second break.
But only 9 made it to the 3rd break. At this point the blinds are 2k/4k/4k and everyone was scrambling for chips.
Fortunes were made and lost, then re-made. It wasn't long until we were down to 4 players. Sophie went out in 4th and got bonus points.
Peter had a huge stack, but had to watch as he doubled up player after player. He finished in 3rd. It was Jim and Tony vying for the win. Tony had a huge stack, but then Jim took most of it away. Then Tony nearly crippled Jim. Jim managed a good come-back, but Tony kept the lead and Jim ended up in second place.
Tony's win moves him up the leaderboard. Jim stays in first. Then it's David, Ed, Jordan, and Patty rounding out the top 5. Some of these positions are determined by only 1 point.

Already looking forward to July 11th for our next big game.

Only 16 players made it to the May live game. But that didn't reduce the fun at all.
Everyone made it to the first break. And we still had a good number of players into the second break.
We combined to the final table just before the third break. Kathy took out 2 players (1 re-entered). Still 9 players made it to the 3rd break.
Then the blinds took their toll. People fell out quickly, sometimes two at a time. It was Jordan's turn to take out 2 players to set the top 4. Jerry had to settle for 4th place. It was Jon taking 3rd..
Then it was Dave putting on a clinic on heads-up play. Between his constant aggression and the deck blessing him with good cards, Jordan didn't stand a chance and had to settle for 2nd.
Great game all!
Even though Jim didn't attend, he still holds first place.
David came from the middle of the pack to edge out Ed for 2nd place by 1 point.
Jordan edged out Patty for 4th place - also by 1 point. There are some close races.

Next game is June 6th - hope to see you there.

22 people made it to the live game tonight. In a rare show of self-discipline, everyone made it to the first break!
Only 2 players when out before second break. And the final table was set about 1/2 way to the third break.
The shorter stacks were eliminated fairly quickly until only 5 players remained. The the blinds started to take their toll. One player dropped, then Dave fell in fourth place (he had a big lead when they formed the final table).
Ed went out in third. He nursed a relatively small stack for an impressive amount of time.
Jim and Patty were the last two players. While Jim had accumulated to large number of chips. Is was Patty's triple up that put her into the lead. She had over 400K chips to Jims 300K.
After playing some hands to get a feel for heads-up, the gloves came off and large pots were moving around. It was mostly in Patty's favor and when the last hand was settled - it was Patty taking the win and Jim had to settle for second place.
Jim's second place put him far out in front for the season.

Next game is May 2nd - see you there.

First, one of our players came down with Covid after Saturday's game. They aren't sure where or when they got it, so I'm letting you know so you can watch for symptoms.
Second, It looks like PokerStars will be ending their support for homes games the end of next month. This may affect our Wednesday online games. We are looking for an alternative now. Please stay tuned.
Third, Jon & Sophie plan to host another Hybrid game on the 21st. Always fun, hope you can make it.
Fourth, This is the last month to sign up for the WSOP challenge. We will be providing 3 seats for next year, so it's a great chance to play in a WSOP game for free. Let me know if you are interested. Here's who we have:
Jerry, Kathy, Peter, Jon, Sophie, David K, Jim, Barb, Tony, Bob, Bill, Ed, James, Memhet, Rod, Bobbie, Patty, Kittie, Kathy Cr
Finally - We had 23 players for our March live game which ties the all-time record.
Everyone made it to the first (dinner) break. BTW - thanks to everyone who makes such great food. This game has the best food anywhere!
We combined down to 2 tables right at the second (dessert) break. And were down to a single table just a few minutes before the 3rd break.
It seemed like we lost a player ever few hands until it down to 5 players. Then the chips flowed around the table, but everyone maintained a healthy stack. Looked like a long night.
Eventually the deadlock was broken when Rod busted out on the bubble. John was next to fall and had to settle for the bonus points in fourth place.
Jim had a huge stack and looked like a lock, but Memhet and Bobby were giving him a good run for his money. Memhet fell out and it was Bobby and Jim heads-up for the win.
The lead changed back and forth, but when the dust settled, it was Jim standing victorious. Well done!
Jim's win gives him the overall lead.

We had 21 players start the live game tonight. That meant 3 tables and the action was all around the room. We had a few more re-entries than usual and 1 person went out just at the first break.
After the break, we combined into 2 tables and the action was a little more sedate. After the second break they were down to 1 table and the action had picked up again.
It was a case of the haves and the have-nots. The have-nots were slowly eliminated, while the rich got richer. A turning point came when Kathy Cr went up against Jordan. Two of the biggest stacks. Jordan took the pot and eliminated Kathy. This allowed Jordan to coast into the top 4.
Jon made it to the top 4, but then had to settle for bonus points. Lisa had a deep run and took third place. Jordan and Ed went heads-up with pretty equal stacks. Ed managed to double up and left Jordan with crumbs. She couldn't recover and Ed took the win.
With this win, Ed also takes over first place overall.

There were only 16 players at the January live game, there was still plenty of action. Play started a little slow with a few re-buys, but no one busted out before the first break.
After some great food, we were ready to play some poker. Even so, there we only a few bust-out with us going to the final table just before the second break.
Jordan got the most out her first time, by not only making it to the final table, but lasting longer than her dad. (can you say bragging rights?)
As these things must we were eventually down to 4 players. Dave had the short stack (still more than 100k). While Jerry had a slight lead over Jim and Barb. Dave was able to sit back and watch as Barb, Jim, and Jerry went all in on the same hand. Jerry had AA, Barb had QQ and Jim had JJ. The first card out was a Q, but the next one was an A and Jerry held to eliminate Barb and Jim (Jim took 3rd because he had slightly more chips). This also gave Jerry a big chip lead over Dave.
Heads-up only lasted a few minutes until Jerry got caught trying to make a move with T8, but got lucky on the turn and made a pair to win the hand the tournament.
Jerry starts the year in first place, but it's where you finish that counts.
