There were 21 players for the last live game of the season! With that many players, it's a little surprising that nearly everyone made it to the 2nd break.
Still they were down to one table just before the 3rd break. The player fell out at a steady pace until only 5 remained.
Those 5 played for quite some time with the chips flowing around the table. Kathy was the first to exit. The Tony had to settle for 4th place and the bonus points.
Peter went out next in third. This left Jerry and Rod to battle for the win. Jerry managed to take it down after a short (but intense) heads-up battle.
Tony's 4th place cemented his win for overall champion for 2023. Jerry's win put him into 2nd place overall. Jon dropped to third and Rod managed to take 4th. Here's the final top 5:
Since Tony didn't sign up for the WSOP this year, it will be Jerry and Jon representing the group next year. Don't forget to sign up for next year's WSOP.
Thanks to everyone for a great season!
15 players showed up for the online game tonight. With exception of a couple of unfortunate souls, everyone made it past the second break.
Then the blinds took their toll and we were down to one table before the third break.
The women were well represented with 4 of the last 6 places. Tony was the last MAN standing until he busted out in 4th place.
Then it was Barb, Kathy, and Lori vying for the top spot. Kathy was first to flinch and had to settle for 3rd place. There was a good, but not overly long heads-up battle which Lori took the best of.
Nice game!
Barb's second place moves her up to 4th place overall. Tony still leads and only Jon can catch him. Jerry could catch Jon for 2nd, but several people could take over third from Jerry. Here's the top 5:
Should be an interesting game next month.
Special thanks to Jon and Sophie for helping to set up this month. - and to everyone who offered to help. It is greatly appreciated.
16 players made it to October live game tonight.
I think everyone made it to the second break. Then, players fell out at a steady rate. We still had two tables by the third break, but then quickly went to the final table shortly after.
The blinds grew larger and the number of players shrank. Jerry went out in 4th place with the blinds at 8k/16k/16k.
The three remaining players took a short break then resumed play at 10k/20k/20k. Peter was the next out leaving David and Tony battling heads-up.
There was a lot of back-and forth with David getting the best of it. Tony's stack gradually dwindled to nothing and David took the win.
Tony extends his lead with Jon trying to catch him. Here's the top 5:
Tentative dates for 2023:

There were 16 players for tonight's live game. Everyone made it to the 2nd break and there were still 2 tables at the third break.
Then players started dropping out. One every few minutes until they were down to 5.
It went 5 handed for quite some time until Sophie couldn't catch and ended up out in 5th.
They went 4 handed until after the 4th break. Then it was Tony out in 4th scoring the bonus points. David went out next and it was John and Barb heads-up for the match.
John had been pretty deep stacked the whole night, but Barb was able to come back and scored the knock-out blow to win the tournament.
Tony's bonus points were enough to put him in front of Jon for the overall championship:
Tentative dates for 2023:
Oct 7, Nov 11 - moved since we'll be in Las Vegas on the 4th, Dec 2
The August game came early. And with it, some new faces on the podium. All 4 of our top 4 players made it to the top 4 for the first time this year.
13 players started the game, and people started falling out much earlier than usual. One went out before the first break. 2 more before the second break. And the final table was set long before the third break.
Still, it was a lot of good poker with the chips flying back and forth. David K (last year's champion) finished in 4th to take the bonus points and break his unlucky streak.
Jim was next out with To take his first podium of the year. It was Lori and Ed heads-up for the win. Lori was getting tired and Ed was able to take advantage of that to get his first win of the year.
Dave went out, then Bob (welcome back Bob). It was Tony settling for the bonus points in 4th. Mehmet was able to take 3rd.
With all the new players hitting the finish line, there wasn't any change in the top 5:

14 players made it to the live game this month. Play was solid with 12 of the 14 players making it to the 2nd break.
Bob scored his first royal - cracking Bobby's aces in the process.
click here to see itThere were a couple of short stacks when we got to the final table, and they fell out pretty quickly.
6 handed play went on for quite a while - even through the 3rd break. By then the blinds had risen so much that it seemed like everyone was short stacked.
Dave went out, then Bob (welcome back Bob). It was Tony settling for the bonus points in 4th. Mehmet was able to take 3rd.
Then it was Jerry and Peter heads-up for the win. Jerry had the lead, but Peter is crafty. It went back and forth, but Jerry was able to hold out for the win!

Tentative dates for 2023:
(July 15 - special game!), July 29 (moved due to WSOP in Cherokee), Sep 9, Oct 7, Nov 11 - moved since we'll be in Las Vegas on the 4th, Dec 2
17 players attended tonight's live game. A few people dropped out early, but the majority made it to the dessert break (2nd hour).
Then the blinds started taking their tolls. But there were still two tables by the third break (end of re-entries).
5 minutes in, they combined tables to make the final 10. A couple fell out quickly, but 4 players still made it to the 4th break.
Jon was the first of those out and had to settle for the bonus points.
Mehmet was next finishing in 3rd place. And it was Tony and Barb heads up for the win. Tony seemed to have more luck left and he ended up with the win.
This puts Tony in a pretty good position to challenge Jon for the overall title.

16 players made it to the live game tonight. Including a new player (welcome David D.). It was also nice to see some of regulars able to make it back (Ben and Joe).
Play was strong and the food was good for the first couple of hours - what more could you want? We were down to the final table right at the third break. This means most everyone got 3 full hours of food and fun.
It also means that the blinds were taking their tool. People were dropping left and right. Jerry and Jim combined to take out David K. Even though Jim took the main pot his luck didn't hold had he soon fell out. Followed by Kathy and others.
Jon had some real ups and downs with the final down putting him in 4th place for the bonus points. Bobby - despite not seeming to not win a hand all night - managed to make it to 3rd place.
It was heads-up with Jerry having a big chip lead over Zahit. Zahit tried to double up, but Jerry was just too lucky. and took the win.
The next game is June 3rd and Jon & Sophie will be hosting a bonus game on May 20th. See you there!
Jon is still leading the championship race.

16 players made it to the live game tonight. As usual, I think the food was the main draw 🙂 Still, everyone managed to get a couple of hours of poker in.
Jon took one of the biggest hands with quad 2's busting Bobby's aces full of 2s. That momentum carried Jon to the final table where he was still the big stack.
Between the blinds going up and Jon's aggressive play, it was difficult for anyone else to make progress. Slowly, big stacks were turned into small stack then player left the table.
By the time they got down to 4 players, Jon had more than 1/2 the chips in play. John made it to 4th place before he fell. Mehmet made a valiant stand, but he fell out in 3rd.Finally, it was Rod against Jon. Rod had a good stack , but Jon had the monster stack. Jon also had the deck behind him as he kept hitting hand after hand. Rod made his stand with top pair - only to find that Jon also had top pair with a slightly better kicker.
Jon took the win and the overall lead in the championship race.
Next game is April 29th as many people will be at Cherokee for the WSOP Circuit event.

Apr 29 (so we don't conflict with WSOP in Cherokee), Jun 3, Jul 8, Aug 5 (may move due to WSOP in Cherokee), Sep 9, Oct 7, Nov 4, Dec 2
21 players attended March's live game. And while the number of players was notable, I have to mention the food this month was exceptional! Marv called it a $20 buffet and it was worth it. Thanks to everyone who bring out their best for our games.
Now to the action. It seems like we are getting the blind structure dialed in. Nearly everyone made it through the re-buy period (first 9 levels). Then the blinds really started to take their toll.
We were down to the final table by 10:30 and the game ended at 11:30.
Shout out to Selenn who played for her first time and made it to the final table!
Bobby finished in 4th and had to settle for the bonus points. With 3 players left, Tony had about half the chips and Kathy and Zehit shared the rest.
Kathy was the first one out and took third. Zehit was up against a monster stack and it just wasn't his night. He had to settle for second. And Tony took the win!
Great Game Everyone!
Also, don't forget Jon and Sophie's game on March 18. It'll be another tournament (but Jon is also thinking about a cash game another night!) Let him know if you are interested in either.

20 people showed up for the live event. This is the most we've had since Covid.
As usual, there was a slow start with nearly everyone getting a couple of hours of play (and the food was good as always).
Then, after the second break, people seemed to drop out left and right. They were down to one table by the third break.
Then it seemed to slow down. One person dropped every 10 minutes or slow until they were down to 4 players. Then it really got slow.
Brandy (welcome back) managed to hold on to get fourth place and the bonus points. Then three-handed went for quite a while, but Kathy's luck finally ran out and she had to take 3rd.
Jon and Peter played heads-up for at least a level. Finally Jon managed to take a big chunk of Peter's stack and Peter couldn't recover. Peter took 2nd and Jon took the win!
That gives Jon the lead overall for this year, with Rod and Peter not far behind.
The next game will be March 4th (with a charity game for MS on March 5th) - details to follow.
Tentative dates for 2023:
Mar 4, Apr 1, Apr 29 (so we don't conflict with WSOP in Cherokee), Jun 3, Jul 8, Aug 5 (may move due to WSOP in Cherokee), Sep 9, Oct 7, Nov 4, Dec 2
13 players started the first game with the new blind structure. It took some getting used to, but most people adapted well. Those who showed up early may have had a slightly easier adjustment, but everyone seemed to manage.
Everyone made it through the first two hours. then the blinds started taking their toll. We were down to 10 by the 3rd hour and 6 made it to the 4th break.
It took 30 more minutes to get down to 4. Jon fell out 4th and had to settle for the bonus points. Zahit had the chip lead all night long, but that faded and he ended up in third.
It was Rod and Tony going heads-up for nearly an hour before the game was resolved. Fatigue may have had more of an impact than the cards did.
In the end it was Rod who took the win and Tony had to settle for second.
The game was a little long - ending just after midnight. If it keeps going this long, we may have to adjust the blinds to try to trim it back.
Overall - I think everyone had a good time.
